Paredon surfing

1

varied

The Pacific Beaches of Guatemala are rich in black sand from the Volcanoes which form a line of beautiful peaks jutting out to the heavens just km from the beach. The surf can be break hard and close with undertows on occasion, care must be taken when swimming.

Monterrico - Has many varied hotels right on the beach front. One can pick from Backpacker to 3 star with air conditioning. the ambience of local flavor with travelers is fun and enjoyable.

Sipacate: The one hotel which is on the beach spit is of a stilt bungalow construction, with the restaurant / bar literally on top of the waves at high tide. The construction is such that the long supports are buried VERY deep into the sand, to give you the support yet magically wonder of the surf right out your front door. Surfing is also good here.

The Paredon Surf Camp

Our biggest waves can be surfed during our rainy season, between June and October, although the sandbars are constantly moving (due to the power and speed of the waves themselves), which makes them a bit technical. Between the months of December and April (although the average height is 5-6 feet) the sandbars are quite stable, offering the cleanest sessions.

Our waves can be catalogued as Fun Waves and are enjoyed by non-surfers alike.

Some surfers have reported stingrays, marine turtles, and dolphins, among many other species while surfing. It is quite common to see Pelicans "surfing" over the waves' lips early in the mornings and during late afternoons.
